Perfecting your work environment
Whatever your job, your work environment is important. I work from home a lot and if I don’t stay on top of things I can easily feel overwhelmed.
I find living in a muddle is depressing, confusing and very hard work. Letters, invoices, tax returns – they seem to gather in piles all around me. If I don’t set aside time to get on top of it the clutter takes over, the smallest job becomes so difficult.
So I start making small choices to get some control. With each choice I begin to clear and order my things. Even in the depths of winter, in my basement, I can create a little ray of sunshine, as I shape my environment. As I do this I instantly feel better about the tasks I have to do.
Whether it’s sorting my personal finances in tiny increments, ordering the piles of paper, sorting through and chucking out what I don’t need. Creating a good working environment helps me to feel better about my work and that means that I get what needs to be done, done.
